Confession of Faith
The Bible |
We believe the Bible to be the Word of God; that the sixty-six books comprising the Old Testament and the New Testament as originally written were verbally inspired and therefore inerrant in all matters; that the Bible is our final authority and our only and all-sufficient rule of faith and practice.
( Matthew 5:18; Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
God |
We believe there is but one true and living God; that He is inexpressibly holy, eternal, infinite, and perfect in all of His attributes; that he possesses omniscience, omnipotence and omnipresence and exists in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who are co-eternal and co-equal in all attributes.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Ephesians 4:5-6; 1Timothy 1:17; Psalm 139; Jeremiah 37:17-19)
Christ |
We believe in the virgin birth, sinless life, vicarious and Substitutionary death, victorious bodily resurrection, present intercession, and the personal and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe He is the eternal Son of God who took upon Himself genuine humanity, without sin and without ceasing to be God.
(Isaiah 7:14; Luke 1:26-35; John 1:1-2, 14; John 14:6; Romans 3:24-25, 4:25, 8:34; 1 Peter 1:3-5; 1 John 2:1-2)
Holy Spirit |
We believe in the absolute deity and personality of the Holy Spirit, and that He regenerates, sanctifies and indwells all believers.
(John 3:3-8, 14:26; Romans 8:9; Ephesians 1:13-14; Titus 3:5)
Satan |
We believe in the reality and personality of Satan, that he was created by God as an angel but through pride and rebellion he has become the enemy of God and man, and that he is totally evil and the original author of wickedness.
(Job 1:6-7; Isaiah 14:12-17; Matthew 4:1-11; John 8:44)
Man |
We believe that man came by way of direct divine creation and not a product of evolution; that through disobedience he became a fallen creature, totally depraved, and now is spiritually dead in trespasses and sins. We believe that because of sin he is totally dependent upon the mercies of God.
( Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:21-23, 5:12, 6:23; Ephesians 2:1-3, 12)
Salvation |
We believe salvation is by the sovereign grace of God; that it has been provided for all and is obtained by grace through faith in the all sufficient sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe when the righteousness of God in Christ has been imputed good works and perseverance are produced.
(John 1:12; Ephesians 1:4, 7, 11; Ephesians 2:8-10; Colossians 1:12-14)
Future Things |
We believe in the imminent coming of Christ in the air to raise the dead in Christ and to receive the living in Christ. We believe in the pre-millennial, personal, bodily and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ to reign over the earth. We believe in the resurrection of both the just and the unjust; in the eternal blessedness of the righteous; and in the judgment and eternal punishment, that is conscious suffering, of the wicked.
(Daniel 9:27; Matthew 24:15-21; 1Corinthians15:51-58; 2 Corinthians 5:10; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Titus 2:11-14; Revelation 20:11-15)
Local Church |
We believe in a local New Testament Church to be a company of born-again, baptized believers, voluntarily associated together for the ministry of the word, mutual helpfulness and edification, the observance of the ordinances, and propagation to the ends of the earth of the faith once delivered to the saints. We believe a local church should be sovereign under God, with no ecclesiastical authority higher than herself. We believe Christians should abstain from the deeds of the flesh and separate themselves unto God.
(1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Ephesians 1:22-23, 5:25-27; Colossians 1:18)
Ordinances |
We believe there are but two church ordinances- Baptism and the Lords Supper. We believe baptism to be the immersion of a believer in water in testimony of the believers union by faith with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. We believe the Lords supper to be the symbolical partaking of bread and the fruit of the vine in testimony of the believer’s faith in the death of Christ and the efficacy of His shed blood.
(Matthew 28:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23:26)
Church and State |
We believe that the civil government is of divine origin for the good order of human society; that leaders are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored, and obeyed except in things directly opposed to the will of God. We believe in the absolute separation of church and state, but we also believe that the Christian citizen of a republic has the responsibility to exercise his influence for righteousness.
(Matthew 22:15:22; Romans 13:1-7)
Religious Liberty |
We believe in religious liberty; that every man should have the right of soul liberty and freedom of conscience without coercion or molestation; and also have the right to propagate his faith to others.
(Romans 14:5, 12; 2 Corinthians 4:1-2; James 1:25; 1 Peter 3:15-16)
